The best way to get to know the city is to walk along
the Calli, Campi and Campielli.   You will become intimately
acquainted  with  the  unique atmosphere of  the quainter
parts of the city, that escape the hurried tourist.  A good
map is necessary  -  you will find them in the apartment -
and very important is a good sensible pair of shoes.
To move about Venice   also   use   the   efficient water
service of the  "Canal Grande".          Exploring Venice by
"VAPORETTO"    ( local water bus)  you   will betreated to
the  parade  of palaces  bordering the winding waterways,
presenting  you  some  of the  finest architecture  in Italy.
The "Gondolas",  symbol of the city  are  truly romantic
and  if  you  are  willing  to  spend  about  100 Euro for an
unforgettable  experience,     you  should  not  waste  the
opportunity. (Fix price beforehand!).
        Gondolas  are built at the Squero di San Trovaso in
        Dorsoduro. This boatyard  is just around the corner
        from our apartment Calle Nani on  the other side of
        the canal.
